The most excellent product in Palas de Rey is the Arzúa-Ulloa cheese which is made in the municipalities of Arzúa, Melide, O Pino, Monterroso and Palas de Rei. This cheese has been protected under the certificate of origin since 1989. It is so important that, since 1976, it is celebrated every first Sunday in March with La Fiesta del Queso de Arzúa and the Fiesta de Galicia de Interés Turístico.
