What to eat in Miranda del Castañar

This village, situated in the Sierra de Francia region has its own microclimate, what explains the existence of some fruits as strawberries in Miranda del Castañar.

It is a place with good meats and sausages, like chorizos and salchichones (which are some of the ingredients of the empanada known as hornazo) and, of course, roasted kid.

If you are looking for advice about what to eat in Miranda del Castañar, try the zorongollo, a salad made with peppers that is very common in Extremadura, and also the Serrano lime, a salad made of lime and orange with boiled egg and chorizo.

Tapas lovers will find a lot of places to go to in Miranda del Castañar. Taberna Albada is probably the most welcoming place of the village. Apart from being beautiful, its grilled tapas have a great price. There’s not a lot of variety as only the ones that appear on a board are available, but they are made in the moment. They also offer local wines.

You can order some delicious tostas at La Mandrágora and eat them with some wonderful views. The place is welcoming and the music is nice, perfect for relaxing after visiting the village.

If you would prefer to buy some of the traditional products of Miranda del Castañar, specially wine, we recommend the Bodega de la Muralla. This is an old winery of the 17^th century, where you will be greatly treated.

A la carte

We highlight some of the many restaurants that exist in Miranda del Castañar.

El Molino is located in the surroundings of the village. This old mill from the 19^th century offers a homemade food and a beautiful place to eat at. You can eat in the terrace, between the trees, close to the shore of the Francia river.

Another option is the Mesón Caresón II, a unique place that might be hard to find. It is worth it to search for it and enjoy its terrace with a view to the mountains. They cook amazing meats.
