The city of Ferrol, located in A Coruña, is a popular place to visit, especially during times of the year like Holy Week, when the city holds a celebration that was declared a Festival of International Touristic Interest in 2014. Ferrol’s beaches also attract a lot of tourists including surfers who dare to take on the fierce waves of the Atlantic Ocean. If you’re facing the dilemma of where to stay in Ferrol, you can consider options in the city center as well as the surrounding area.

Where to stay in Ferrol: old town

Ferrol Vello (“Old Ferrol” in the Galician language) is what could be considered the historical quarter of Ferrol, the first neighborhood of this seaside town. Today, due to poor local management and the obstacles to restoration posed by the area’s protected status, Ferrol Vello is completely in shambles. Even though some houses and establishments still remain standing, it has practically become a ghost town, so you won’t find any places to stay in Ferrol Vello. However, it’s still worth it to take a walk around this neighborhood to be transported back to another moment in time.

Where to stay in Ferrol: city center

In the city center there are more options for places to stay in Ferrol. Here we’re going to highlight four of them.

First of all, we recommend the Ferrol Parador, found in an enviable location with views of the river and right nearby Herrera Gardens, the Church of San Francisco, and Reina Sofía Park. In addition, the hotel’s restaurant has gotten positive reviews.

Another option is Hotel Almirante, a four-star hotel right in Plaza de España. With an inviting and comfortable atmosphere, this is a great place to stay to explore Ferrol due to its proximity to all the landmarks in the city center.

There’s also Hotel El Suizo (three stars) located right in the center of town, nearby the bustling Plaza de Amboage. This is an old modernist-style building rehabilitated as a hotel.

The most economical option is Zahara Hostel, which is very close to Cantón de Molins Park and many bars in the surrounding area. Their rooms are simple, but their tortilla de patatas—always freshly made—is arguably the best you’ll find in Ferrol.

Our first recommendation to sleep in Caldas de Reis is the Alojamiento Caldas de Reis. Here you can rent an apartment for up to 6 people. They have all you need to have a good stay. The quality-price ratio is really well valued by the clients. For us, the best part is its location because it is in the heart of Caldas de Reis, so close to the spa Acuña.

Another option that we really like in this town is the Select Real Apartments. In these apartments you will also find all you need to have a comfortable stay. All the apartments have free WIFI. In addition to that, Jorge, the owner, is a charming person. He is always trying to help the guests.

A better option for pilgrims on their Way to Santiago is the Albergue O Cruceiro. It has a perfect location and the rooms are perfect to rest after a hard stage on the Camino. Besides, all of them have free WIFI.

If you prefer to sleep in Caldas de Reis surroundings, there are also a lot of options. One of the closest is the rural hotel Torre do Rio. Its location is amazing, if you stay here, you will enjoy some spectacular views of the Umia river. Besides, you will be able to rest on its swimming pool. They offer an additional service of babysitting so, if you want to enjoy a romantic dinner, you may use it!

Where to sleep in Santiago de Compostela centre

The hotel offer in Santiago de Compostela is so wide, but we are going to recommend you our favourite options.

Our favourite place is the Hotel Praza Quintana. It is a 3 stars hotel. It is very elegant and it is located right in the heart of Santiago. The rooms are so bright. They are large with wood floors and lofted ceilings. You can see the Cathedral tower from some of the rooms. It is in the heart of tapas and restaurants but there is no noise. It has a specific parking 300 meters away from the hotel. It has a service that will surprise you... the breakfast buffet is open 24 hours a day so you can eat something whenever you want. The price of the average room is 140€ per night for 2 people including breakfast.

The Hotel Atalaia B&B is our second recommendation to sleep in Santiago de Compostela. It is located 400 metres away from the Cathedral and the price of the room is around 90€. It has a modern, warm and comfortable decoration. The staff's attention is fabulous, they make you feel as if you were at home. Surely if you decide to stay in this hotel you won’t go wrong.

Our third recommendation is the Costa Vella Hotel. It is located away from the bustle of the most touristic area of Santiago de Compostela but 7 minutes walking away from the Obradoiro square. It is a cozy hotel, with few rooms in which the smallest detail is cared. It has nice, clean rooms and comfortable beds. We love the quality-price ratio the hotel has. Recommendation: as it is a small hotel you can hear some noise in the reception and common areas, so we suggest you booking on higher floors.

Where to sleep in Santiago de Compostela city

We know that a lot of people prefer to get away from the most noisy streets to enjoy peaceful nights and calm after a hard Camino de Santiago. This is why we have selected hotels that are a bit farther from the heart of Santiago but with a special charm to sleep in Santiago de Compostela becomes an experience.

A really good option is de AC palacio del Carmen, Autograph Collection. It is just 15 minutes walking away from the center of Santiago and it is surrounded by beautiful gardens. The AC chain complies with all the services of a luxury hotel, modern, clean rooms, a very attentive staff and a breakfast with a wide variety. The views from the rooms are fascinating.

A little bit farther from the center is the Hotel Spa Relais Chateaux A Quinta da Auga, a hotel to sleep in Santiago de Compostela for gourmets. The rooms have a classic but not old decoration, they offer courtesy water and soft drinks. This hotel really deserves its 5 stars. The SPA area is perfect for charging batteries after a visit to Santiago. And its restaurant has a tasting menu for around 50€ and it is really good.

Where to sleep in Pontedeume

We are pretty sure that this place is going to be one of those hotels that once you see it you will want to go there. We are talking about the Casa do Castelo de Andrade, located 7km away from Pontedeume. It is a luxury house because of its rustic decoration, the kindness of its owner, because of its exquisite treatment and the environment in which it is located. The common areas in the house are magic. It has an old library, a living room with chimney and a large window with stunning views. Its breakfast are famous. You will be able to enjoy natural juice, home cooked cookies, freshly made sponge cake and cold meats with tomato. The coffee is made in pot… what else can you ask? It is our first option to sleep in Pontedeume.

As second choice we recommend La Suite del Eume, it is a rustic style villa with very good style. The suites are spacious and every detail is perfectly cared. There is a but and it is that the rooms have two beds instead of a king size bed. However, a good point is that there is a restaurant just below the hotel and it is great. If you look for the establishment, it is not advertised as La Suite de Eume but with the name of the restaurant "Cantina del Rio Covés".

Another interesting option is the Pazo da Cruz in Villarmayor, located 15km away from Pontedeume. It is a house built around a wonderful central courtyard. It is a place to enjoy the environment because it is surrounded by a multitude of fields and natural parks. Despite being a highly recommended place, some member of our community of travelers has pointed out that in winter the house is very cold... so it's better going in spring or summer.

Where to sleep in Cedeira

One of our favourite accommodations in Cedeira is the 3 stars Hotel Herbeira, it is located 5 minutes walking away from the beach. It has nice functional rooms, the decoration is not amazing, but it has excellent views of the sea and the beach. This hotel is designed for surfers because this is a really good area to practice this sport. The hotel has swimming pool and catering service.

Another good place to sleep in Cedeira is the Hostal Meson Leira Antiga. It has quite large and bright rooms. Its bathrooms have all the necessary amenities and the rooms have good views to the mountain and the sea. The hostel has a spa and a wellness center. The hostel restaurant has galician traditional dishes.

Where to sleep in Cedeira: surroundings

If you plan staying on the surroundings of Cedeira to know better the area, we recommend staying in Santalla. It is a close to Cedeira village where you can find accommodations as the Casa Rural O Carreiro with 5 different houses; 2 apartments for 2 people, a house for 4 people, another one for 6 people and another one for 8 people. It is a highly recommended place because of the charm of its surroundings and the views on all the houses. What we emphasized the most of this housing is the treatment of the personnel and the owners.

In the heart of Noia, we recommend the Hotel Noia, a new hotel. Its rooms have a really good decoration, similar to other hotel chain of renown. The cleanliness is impeccable and the breakfasts are correct. Maybe the worst part of this accommodation is its bathrooms because they are a bit weird. The hotel is located just 8 minutes  away from the most popular beaches in the Rías Baixas, so it is in a strategic place to visit the area.

The Hotel Elisardo is our second recommendation to sleep in Noia. It is a centric hotel. It is close to everything and there is a free parking really close to the hotel. We recommend this place because of it quality-price ratio. The rooms are large and comfortable (in fact, some guests told us that the mattress are so comfortable) and they have a functional and modern decoration. However, if you are travelling with a trolley or a lot of suitcases the hotel has no lift!

Where to sleep in Noia: surroundings

There are other options to sleep in Noia surroundings. Casa do Torno, in one of our favourite places because of its authenticity. It is built on and old school from the 19th century and it is surrounded by eucalyptus and pine forests. Cesar, the owner, will try to make your stay special. He prepares the breakast with bread, sponge cakes, and jam. Everything is home-cooked. From the garden, you will have stunning views of the estuary.

Where to sleep in A Coruña

The first option we choose to sleep in A Coruña is the Sercotel Blue Coruña hotel, it is in a quiet area but right in downtown. They have an agreement with a public parking, so it is easy to park. This hotel is fully urban and the decoration is modern and functional. They have an extra free service of water bottles in the room every day. From 12:00 to 21:00 they offer free snacks and refreshments in the lounge only for clients.

Our second option is NH Coruña Centro, it is located on a perfect place and it has the NH chain comfort. The rooms in this hotel are very spacious, full of light, warm and cozy due to the wooden floors. This is a perfect hotel for doing tourism or a business travel. The breakfast is also very recommendable, it has a wide variety.

The third option is the Riazor Coruña. It is located right opposite to Riazor beach. This hotel has a classic decoration but its views of the Riazor beach are amazing. It is close to the bars and restaurants area so there are a lot of close options to enjoy A Coruña. The hotel is close to Pontevedra square, where you can take a bus to any other area in the city.

The Lois Hotel is the best quality-price option in A Coruña. It is a small and familiar hotel with simple rooms. It is located in a small street in downtown, so the rooms are quiet. There is a close area where you can enjoy some tapas. The food in the hotel is very recommendable.

The Eurostars Ciudad de La Coruña Hotel, it is located in a really nice area close to the Hércules Tower. The rooms are functional and comfortable and the sights from the rooms are fascinating. We recommend you to walk through the Paseo dos Menhires if you are staying in this hotel.

Our second option to stay in A Coruña surroundings is the NH Collection A Coruña Finisterre. It is located in A Coruña, but not in the most historic area of the city.

Where to sleep in Pontevedra

El Parador de Pontevedra es nuestra primera opción para dormir en Pontevedra, palacio renacentista donde residían antiguamente los Condes de Maceda. El encanto del decorado y su estilo señorial en un entorno de playas y calas, invita a alojarse en él.

The Parador de Pontevedra is our first option to sleep in Pontevedra. It is a Renaissance palace where Maceda Counts used to live. The charm of the decoration and its stately style in an environment of beaches and coves, invites you to stay in it.

As second choice we highlight the Hotel Virgen del Camino. It is quite close to the historic old town where all the monuments and business of the town are. It is located less than 500 metres away from the Convent of San Francisco and the Art Museum. It is also really well connected to the bus station. The Hotel Galicia Palace is in the heart of the town and it is an ideal accommodation to discover Pontevedra and its surroundings. It is also well connected because it is close to the train and bus station where you will be able to enjoy the best local cuisine.

The most affordable option but staying close enough to the old town is the Hotel Avenida. You will pay moreless half the price than on the previous options and it is also close to the center of Pontevedra.

Where to sleep in Pontevedra surroundings
