Eating in Ferrol
Ferrol, also known as El Ferrol, is a city situated in the north of A Coruña. It is oriented around maritime activities, with an important fishing and commercial port in addition to its famous shipyards. You therefore can’t go to Ferrol without eating some good fish or fresh seafood. There’s a popular saying that goes: “Ferrol: beaches, seafood, and sun.” But that’s not the only thing you can eat in Ferrol…
What to eat in Ferrol
An important fishing city, Ferrol has one of the most amazing coasts of the province of A Coruña that attracts an increasing amount of surfers from all of Spain. Lovers of the ocean and the products it offers will have childlike fun eating in Ferrol.

The gastronomy is very similar to that of other Galician cities. If you want to know what to eat in Ferrol, you have to take into account their flavorful seafood (crabs, scallops, shrimp, mussels…) and fish like rape, robadallo, parrochas, jurelos, all fundamental to Galician cuisine. There are also ‘meigas’, a kind of fish known as ‘gallo’ or ‘rooster’ in the rest of the Peninsula. And, of course, there are barnacles!

In terms of meat, the Galician veal has a very good reputation and having it roasted is a great choice. Also typical is the ‘raxo’, fresh pork loin, cut into cubes (3cm x 3cm), and cooked without artifice in the traditional pan. It’s typically paired with french fries and padrón peppers. You can also have the famous Lacón con grelos, with I.G.P.

Something you cannot miss when eating in Ferrol is the octopus a feira, prepared with paprika and served with cachelos (boiled potatoes). If you are interested in this dish, the nearby town of Mugardos is famous for preparing it better than anywhere else.

For snacking, we recommend the queso de Arzúa-Ulloa or the quesode Tetilla, two kinds of cheese with D.O.P.. There’s also the empanada de bonito, a classic in Ferrol.

To accompany your food in Ferrol, we recommend the Albariño wine, and to finish the meal a shot of the town’s famous coffee liquor or Orujo cream.

A Voltiña

Tapas
Throughout the urban center of Ferrol you’ll find many places where you can eat tapas. The neighborhood of La Magdalena offers many options, especially during holidays like

Holy Week or summer, when they close the streets to traffic so bars can offer their terraces to customers. You’ll find the best places wandering the streets of María, Sol, and Magdalena. From there we recommend the following places:

The restaurant Sidrería O Lagar has a terrace in front of the market where you can enjoy their famed cider or a glass of wine or beer, any of which comes with a tapa. Their tapas are rich and abundant. You can have empanada, queso, raxo, parrochas…

There is also Zahara, in front of the Cantón de Molins park, where they offer you an appetizer of tortilla de patatas when you order a drink. It’s said that they serve the best tortilla de patatas in Ferrol…

On María street, you will find Mesón O Faro, a typical Ferrol tapas bar, although you can also order from their more substantial menu. They give you a tapa with your drink, and it’s guaranteed to be typically Galician and of great quality.

Zahara

Sidreria Olagar

A la carte
There are many good places to eat in Ferrol, especially the typical inns on the outskirts that can be reached by car. If you don’t have a car, we recommend trying the neighborhood of La Magdalena, where none of the restaurants will disappoint you.

If you want to eat cheap and plentiful food in Ferrol, you could try Mesón O Bo Padal. Just 7 minutes from the center of town by car, they have a terrace with beautiful views where they serve typical Galician products like grilled sardines, raxo, tortilla de patatas, fried cuttlefish…

There’s also Mesón O Sexto Pino, in the area of Malata, 6 minutes away by car. From the outside, its far-removed appearance may be deceptive, but on the inside it is the perfect place to enjoy a meal with family in Ferrol. They also have swings for children outside. They serve traditional, high-quality Galician cuisine.

Finally, if you want to enjoy the coastal environment in a beautiful location, go to O Emigrante in Fene. We highly recommend their roast veal.

Mesón O Sexto Pino

Mesón O Bo Padal

Eating in Pontedeume
The coastal town of Pontedeume is located between Ferrol and A Coruña. Walking along the famous bridge that crosses the Eume river is very pleasant, and the town is worth a visit as much for its old town as for its surroundings, where the Fragas do Eume natural park is located. Between river and sea, this geographic location makes eating the unique traditional cuisine of Pontedeume a delight.
What to eat in Pontedeume
If you want to know what to eat in Pontedeume, keep in mind that the local gastronomy has its own tradition that’s influenced by its geographic position between river and ocean. For fish, we recommend the sardines—which are served prepared in two ways: open and smoked as parrochos do fume, or open, sun-dried and then grilled, referred to as bistés da marola. You can also try xardas (mackerel) or robalizas (a type of bass) in addition to the clams and shellfish from the Eume river. You will find many traditional Galician dishes, like lacón con grelos, raxo, octopus empanada and costrada, which is a type of empanada typical to this region in which the filling is based in distinct kinds of meat (pork loin, chicken, veal…) or fish (turbot, scallops with ham…).

Remember that every Saturday El Feirón takes place (from 7:00-21:00), a market that originated as a centuries-old farmers’ fair where all types of traders now meet: butchers, farmers, cheesemakers, beekeepers… It will be difficult to go out to eat in Pontedeume without having one of the typical products sold there, such as their honey and their cheese curds.

Typical pastries of the Eume region are the tarta de Pontedeume (similar to one made in Santiago with almonds and lot of egg yolk), the melindres and almendrados (soaked in syrup), the prolla (also spelled proia) and the manguito eumés.
Tapas
If you want to eat some tapas in Pontedeume’s old town, you will find small low-price taverns.

La Taberna Zas, next to the seafront, serves authentically Galician products: raxo, octopus, clams, parrochas (young sardines)…

It’s said that the best octopus in Pontedeume can be eaten at Pulpería Os Cen Pasos, which is close to the waterfront.

On the other hand, at the confectionary Obradoiro, you can find the distinct specialties of Pontedeume: empanada, costrada, pastelón, orella, filloas, etc…

In general, at the center of the city there are a lot of tapas bars where you can, as the Galicians well know, “tomar un vino” (“drink some wine”). Sit on one of their terraces, enjoy the medieval appearance of Pontedeume and its gastronomy.

Taberna Zas

Os Cen Pasos

A la carte
If you’re looking for a place to eat in Ponedeume, we recommend the Restaurante-Vinoteca A Pitanza, where you can also get smaller portions and very good raxo.

La Cantina Río Coves is a restaurant with a rustic appearance located in a beautiful stone house. It has a great terrace to enjoy your meal in the fresh air. Very rich are their croquettes, arroz con marisco and salads.

Restaurante la Ría is perfect for eating a parradilla de pescados y mariscos in Pontedeume. There is a large menu with meats and wines, and they also make meals that you can take to-go.

In Nogueirosa, 2 km away, the restaurant Los Molinos has gardens and ample rooms, and is specialized in celebrations and all types of events.

A Pitanza

La Ria

Eating in Santiago de Compostela
Santiago de Compostela is the worthy capital of Galicia that’s located at the end of the Camino de Santiago. If you’re hiking, congratulations, you have arrived! Now for the most important thing, eating in Santiago de Compostela, which will make for a great end to your journey. If you’re only coming to visit the historical city, we can also recommend places for you to eat in Santiago de Compostela.
What to eat in Santiago de Compostela
Meeting point for hikers and tourists from all around the world, Santiago de Compostela is also a city with a long university tradition, along with which its gastronomic offering is ample and varied.

If you want to know what to eat in Santiago de Compostela, take a stroll through the Mercado de Abastos, currently the second-most visited place in the city after the cathedral, where you will see its star products: fish, seafood, their famous scallops (a symbol of the traveller), Galician veal with I.G.P, pimientos de Padrón, grelos, and their Queso Tetilla with I.G.P., amongst other things. You can also buy directly from the “paisanas” (agricultural women), who still put up their products for sale in the Plaza.

Wander the streets searching for something to eat in Santiago de Compostela and you will find classic tapas like pulpo a feira, prepared according to regional tradition, or the very famous empanada filled with zamburiñas or cod. Enjoy some of the flavorful soups or the caldo gallego, prepared with grelos, a typical vegetable of the region, of the traditional sopa de marisco. Like in any Galician city, the tables in Santiago de Compostela are always full of nécoras, crab, lobster, barnacles, and oysters. For dessert, you can order the authentic Tarta de Santiago, a famous product with I.G.P.
Tapas
In the well-known university city of Santiago de Compostela, there are many places to eat tapas at an economic price.

The Camino de Santiago ends in Santiago de Compostela, but another one also begins…The Ruta París-Dakar! What is it? A tradition with strong university routes that’s only apt for brave travelers. It consists in leaving from the Bar O Paris (Rúa dos Bautizados, 11) and going until arriving at Bar Dakar (Rúa do Franco, 13), passing through all the establishments on the street to drink some wine. There are about 20 people who have successfully completed the journey. We encourage to you to at least stop at those bars to have some tapas, since eating Santiago de Compostela will never disappoint you. And, if you’re interested…We’ll see you at el Dakar!

Another place to eat tapas in Santiago de Compostela is O Negreira O Patata, a classic tavern in the Plaza where your drink is accompanied by some patatas guisadas. If you visit the Mercardo de Abastos, have a snack or order from a menu at 2.0 Abastos.

Ruta París-Dakar

Ruta París-Dakar

O Negreira O Patata

Abastos 2.0

A la carte
There are a wide range of places to eat in Santiago de Compostela, and we have here just a small selection. At Dos Reis, a restaurant in the Parador known as the Hostal de Los Reyes Católicos, you will find creative cuisine.

There is also Carta Enxebre, which serves traditional Galician cuisine and the option of smaller snacks. They serve dishes like: arzúa and tetilla cheeses with quince, empanada of the Parador’s own cook, Galician soup, octopus a feira…

If you want to try creative Galician-Japanese fusion cuisine, make a reservation at Casa Marcelo, a restaurant with just one table and a view of the kitchen. At the hotel Pazo de Altamira, a 6-minute walk from Plaza del Obradoiro, you can eat market food that competes with more famous tasting menus in the area.

Hostal Dos Reis

Pazo de Altamira

Eating in Noia
Noia is a locality of A Coruña, established at the mouth of the Tambre river. It’s located at the innermost point of the estuary of Muros y Noia, which means that the seafood industry is the area’s main economic sector due to its proximity to the ocean. Noia is known throughout Galicia for the Paris Orchestra of Noia that visits festivals in all the towns of the region. It’s proven that this town knows well how to put on a show, so eating in Noia is not going to disappoint. Get excited!
What to eat in Noia
If you’re looking for information regarding where to eat in Noia, a beautiful small town in the Rías Baixas with a great fish market, the answer is their exceptional seafood. A particular regional specialty is the lamprea, which, due to its unusual appearance, is considered an exquisite delicacy. The caldeiradas and the pescaditos fritos, either baked or grilled, are the dishes most requested by tourists who visit the area. And we can’t forget the berberechos (a type of mollusk), which some say are the best of the Peninsula, whether it’s steamed, fried, or even in an empanada with mussels with D.O.P of Galicia. We also recommend that you try the town’s other amazing dishes: clams, callos, churrasco de carne, and sardines off the grill.

Like any good Galician locality, Noia serves authentic traditional cuisine, and you can eat a marvelous lacón con grelos or a delicious plate of trucha con cachelos (trout with stewed potatoes). For dessert: filloas, orellas, cocada, almendrados, galleta de huevo. Complement these delicious treats with a Ribeiro wine and pan de Broa, typical to this region, and you’ll have a truly satisfying menu.
Tapas
If you’re looking for a place to eat in Noia, at the bars there is a nice custom of serving a free, generous tapa when you order a glass of wine or beer. They could offer you croquettes, grilled sardines, meatballs, or an empanada in one of its many varieties.

The old town is a great place to sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere of the street. Tasca Típica offers a relaxed environment for eating in Noia and a varied menu of tapas to beneath the old arches.

Parrillada A Marina, close to City Hall, is a cheap place with good tapas that come free when you order a drink.

Our final recommendation is La Parra, a bar with typical Galician tapas. Their navajas are particularly good.

La Tasca Típica

La Parra

A la carte
You’ll find many places to eat at in Noia.

At Elisardo they serve homemade food with meat, seafood, and in-season ingredients. Try their original dessert, and apple empanada.

At the restaurant Asador Tío Manolo, they specialize in Galician grilled meats and also serve fish from the estuary.

El Restaurante Forno is perfect if you want to eat good seafood at an affordable price in Noia. They also have a varied menu: meat, fish, seafood…

Tio Manolo

Forno

Eating in Cedeira
Cedeira is located in the northern part of the Rias Altas. This seafront village takes us to one of the most wild and spectacular landscapes in Galicia, among which are some of the highest cliffs in all of Europe. Your visit could take an entire day, so you will have to look for somewhere to eat in Cedeira. The options are varied, though all of them are based in fantastic Galician ingredients.
What to eat in Cedeira
If you want to know what to eat in Cedeira, fresh seafood is the basis of culinary tradition in Galician Rias Altas. Crab, lobster and nécoras are all common in the region, as well as the famous cockles and coquinas, but without a doubt, the true star of Cedeira cuisine is the percebe, or sea barnacle. Taste the delicious flavor at the Festa do Percebe, eagerly awaited in the entire region and celebrated every year since 2003. The participants in the celebration can learn to cook the percebes according to tradition: “agua ferver, percebe votar, agua ferver, percebe sacar”. That is, boil water, throw in the percebes, wait for the water to boil again and remove them from the pot. In October 2014, the celebration coincided with the I Exaltación del Percebe.

El Quijote

Typical dishes in Cedeira include rape guisado con guisantes, the salpicón, bonito en rollo, the pulpo a feria, chocos rellenos, calderadas de raya, different kinds of seafood, etc… Pair all of these specialties with come patatas de rebeira, which have a unique flavor due to being cultivated near the ocean.

For dessert, a brazo de gitano, which is a cake made with different fillings (chocolate, nougat, strawberry, pineapple…). With your coffee you can have an ‘ese’, an artisanal Cedeira cookie with a touch of anise.
Tapas
If you want to get tapas in Cedeira, we recommend the following places:

At the Mesón Muiño Kilowatio, located at Cedeira’s seafront, they serve tapas with marajo, which is in the same family as sharks. They also offer squid that is said to be spectacular.

If you’d prefer to eat some grilled scallops in Cedeira, the Mesón Tía María is your place. If you’re more into meat, they also have chicken raxo with queso de tetilla, a dish typical to the Galician region.

Tía María

Praza do Peixe

A la carte
We’ll help you decide where to eat in Cedeira.

At Badulaque, in the bottom floor of Casa del Mar with a view of the estuary, they have their own fish tank. In addition to the option of good shellfish, you can also order fish stew, pastelón (a thin-crusted empanada), and bonita en rollo, amongst other specialties.

El Naútico is a classic, and perhaps the oldest restaurant. They specialize in seafood and have big windows with views of the ocean.

Finally, to eat in Cediera we recommend el Mesón Marieta, a central location where you can taste mussels, cockles, sea barnacles, and octopus. Delicious!

Marieta Cedeira

Badulaque

Náutico de CEdeira

Eating in Betanzos
The beautiful, medieval Galician city of Betanzos is considered by some to be the capital of Galician gothic because it has some of the best-preserved, high-quality gothic churches in the area. In addition to visiting the city, eating in Betanzos is a complete pleasure. You’ll be able to try all of the typical products of Galicia gastronomy, but the one you’ll enjoy the most in Betanzos is their tortilla de patatas, famous throughout the community. Where can you try it?
What to eat in Betanzos
Despite the fact that it’s one of the smallest towns in the Galician community, Betanzos offers many culinary delights. You can enjoy the pleasure of good food that is always prepared with products of maximum quality. Being a community protected by the Mandeo and Mendo rivers, Betanzos has very fertile land, which makes their vegetable harvest truly stand out. The vegetables are perfect to accompany their classic Galician seafood, such as nécoras and sea bass, which comes from the Ría de Betanzos or other close places. To eat in Betanzos, order as an appetizer the amazing combination of Vina da Terra de Betanzos with typical Galician cheeses, such as the queso de Tetilla. Without a doubt, our strongest recommendation is the tortilla de patata since it’s the most acclaimed recipe in the town. It’s more substantial in Betanzos than in other places, and you can taste it during the Semana de la Tortilla (Week of the Tortilla) during ten days in the month of October. The participating establishments prepare a large variety of tapas with distinct types of tortilla, and there is also a contest in which customers vote for the winning tortilla cooks.

Since Betanzos is a Galician town, you will also find other dishes typical to the Galician community: la empanada, el pulpo a feira and the classic lacón. You can’t forget to try the typical desserts, such as filloas (similar to crepes) and, if you’re less into sweets, a brandy produced in the area. For something other than food, order a shot of one of the spectacular liquors and brandies of Galicia, among which the Aguardiente de Hierbas de Galicia, the Licor de Hierbas, the Licor Café and the Orujo (also taken with cream) stand out, all with I.G.P. If you visit Betanzos around the 16th of August, you’ll be there for the Fiestas de San Roque, the festival for the city’s patron saint.
Tapas
Tapas are a great option in Betanzos. Like in any good Galician town, tapas are abundant and generally well-priced. Since the tortilla de patatas is the most recognized dish of the area, we have selected a few places where you can enjoy it in Betanzos. First, there is Casa Miranda, located in the Travesía Progreso. In recent years it has won the first prize in the tortilla competition four times. It’s a small establishment, so you should go when you have ample time to try to find a seat. In 2016, the winner of the tortilla competition was Mesón O Progreso. Another recommendation is Cafetería Lenda, which has won second place in the competition for two consecutive years. At this restaurant we highlight, in addition to the tortilla, the raxo—marinated pork loin served with potatoes. There is also La Taberna 1931, open at nighttime with great music.

Meson O Progreso

Taberna 1931

A la carte
There are many diverse places to eat in Betanzos, a few of which we mention here. First, San Andrés, a stylish restaurant that offers in-season ingredients and a good selection of seafood. We recommend the chiprones, bacalao, and tortilla de patatas. Their meat is also of very good quality. At the restaurant Os Caneiros—in the downtown hotel Complejo San Roque—you’ll find seafood dishes and other traditional cuisine. We also recommend eating at the Restaurante Lodeiro, which offers dishes with quality ingredients. We note the zamburiñas, almejas, navajas…and the high quality of their wines!

San Andrés

Restaurante Lodeiro

Eating in Samos
Located between Lugo and Sarria, Samos is a must for all travelers who walk along the Way to Santiago and want to enjoy Galician cuisine. If you want to eat in Samos you can try local dishes as well as typical Galician dishes. There is a limitedvariety of restaurants and bars, but the food is good quality and delicious!
What to eat in Samos
This small village is a must stop for travelers on the Way To Santiago route who want to visit “Mosteiro de san Xian” (San Julián Monastery, a Benedictine Abbey). What should you eat in Samos? The restaurants offer concello, or local products, like seasonal vegetables and tasty meat from cattle, sheep and pigs that are fed from green pastures. With the pork, they make sausage, morcillas (sausage), lacón (shoulder of pig) and prepare a special dish, filloas de sangre.

Samos is well-known for its eel and trout from the Sarria and Loúzara rivers. Dishes that can always be found in this area are Galician soup and octopus. In regard to baked goods, the bizcochos de Samos are famous, with a very thin texture that continues to be made from the 250-year-old recipe from the monks. The desserts from local restaurants are normally homemade, among them cañas (bread filled with cream), tartas de nueces (walnut dessert) and Castaña de Galicia (that has I.G.P.).

Eating in A Coruña
A Coruña is the perfect city to spend a weekend that satisfies all travelers’ tastes. After wandering the historical sector, you can eat near the Plaza de María Pita, considered the city’s nerve center. There is a large number of tapas bars and restaurants distributed throughout the historical sector and the city in general. A Coruña is also a great destination for travelers who are interested in going to the beach. The gastronomy, like the city, is apt for all tastes. Want to know what to eat in A Coruña?
What to eat in A Coruña
You will find a wide range of great products to eat in A Coruña. A Coruña, capital of the Galician province with the same name, is a city on the Atlantic Ocean with an important sea port, which is why you can’t go to A Coruña without trying the delicious seafood (nécoras, crabs, shrimp, zamburiñas, crayfish, and the typical santiaguiños, named for the red marks on their backs) and fish like el rape and el rodaballo, which are fundamental to Galician recipes. Another product you can’t miss trying in A Coruña is their meats, especially the veal, which occupy an important place in the local gastronomy. Or the so-called raxo, or fresh pork loin, cut into cubes (3 cm. x 3 cm.) and cooked in a pan without artificial substitutions. There are many forms in which the raxo can be eaten in A Coruña; the most traditional way is to eat it plain accompanied by french fries or peppers. In some restaurants they even serve it covered in cabrales cheese. Raxo is very typical to Galicia.

Wander the streets of the town in search of the Pementos do Couto (with I.G.P), the Pemento de Herbón (with D.O.P.), the best empanada, or of course the ‘pulp a feira’, traditionally prepared with a touch of cayenne and served with cachelos (stewed potatoes). And you can’t leave A Coruña without eating the exquisite Lacón with grelos (both with I.G.P), a classic at sit-down restaurants as well as taverns. As an appetizer or as a dessert, depending on your taste, you can try the famous Queso de Tetilla, with D.O.P. To finish eating in A Coruña, have the classic Tarta de Santiago, with an almond base and I.G.P., plus a shot of the famous Galician Licor Café. Other products with I.G.P that you can get are Miel de Galicia and Castañas de Galicia. As a promotion of A Coruña’s gastronomy, the Concurso de Tapas Picadillo has been celebrated every September since 2004. There are prizes for best traditional tapa, best creative tapa and the Premio Ciudad de A Coruña, which is ultimately chosen by the public. This is all that you can enjoy eating in A Coruña!
Tapas
A Coruña has some of the best bars and terraces in Galicia distributed throughout the city. You will have ample choices when deciding where to eat in A Coruña. To eat tapas in A Coruña, there are two clearly defined areas in the city, the first being the usual tapas in bars and taverns along the streets between Avenida de la Marina—known for its standard seafaring houses—and the commercial Calle Real. Some of these traditional establishments are La Bombilla, O Courno, A Troula, O Tarabelo and A Mundiña, with a great offering. The second area to eat in A Coruña, coming into fashion just in recent years, is located in the area surrounding the Plaza de Lugo and its market and is considered to have restaurants and wine bars with an innovative touch: Cienfuegos, La Bodeguilla and Ribera & Compañía, amongst others. However, without a doubt, you can’t leave A Coruña without eating a serving of raxo at Casa Manolo, considered to be one of the best raxos in the city.

La Bombilla 2

O Tarabelo

A la carte
It will be difficult to choose there to eat in A Coruña because there are so many places that offer great quality food. At A Pulpeira de Melide, they are on their fourth generation of “plupeiros”, who cook Galician cuisine with hints of other cultures as well. After visiting Domus (the museum of La Casa del Hombre, work of Japanese architect Arata Isozaki), you won’t be able to leave A Coruña without eating at the adjacent restaurant Casa Pardo, where Ana Gago and Eduardo Pardo offer Galician cuisine. What other restaurant recommendations do we have for A Coruña? The restaurant Alborada, which earned a Michelin star in 2010, where chef Javier Rey and a complete professional team offer avant-garde cuisine. They have worked with the wine cellar Espiritú de Galicia, dedicated exclusively to wine, since 2012. At Arbore de Vieira, with a Michelin star since 2014, everything is prepared with the intention of providing an authentic gastronomic experience of A Coruña, with a menu crafted by chef Luís Veira that changes depending on the products in season.

Pulpeira Melide

Alborada

Eating in O Cebreiro
O Cebreiro, situated in the Ancares mountain range, is an obligatory stop on the Camino de Santiago. If you pass through O Cebreiro you should know that it’s a small village, although its restaurants and bars offer a good variety of traditional products and recipes. If you’re looking to recuperate your strength or try the typical local food, the grelos should be on your list.

The majority of the small pallozas (stone houses with thatched roofs) that make up the village offer services to those traveling the Camino de Santiago. Taking into account how few registered inhabitants there are, the two available restaurants in O Cebreiro are sufficient: Carolo and the one at the hotel O Cebreiro. That’s our recommendation for where to eat in O Cebreiro.
What to eat in O Cebreiro
This small village in the municipality of Pedrafita do Cebreiro and the province of Lugo is a mandatory stop on the Camino de Santiago. You will of course find many Galician products there, but what you really need to eat in O Cebreiro is their specialty, the Queso Cebreiro (Cebreiro cheese), which has D.O. It’s prepared with pasteurized whole milk—from the breeds rubia gallega, pardo frisona, or a mix of the two—and has a yellowish-white color without coloring or preservatives.

A typical dish is the cocido gallego (Galician stew), prepared with several pork by-products, in addition to the class lacón con grelos (meat with greens) and the pote gallego (“Galician pot”). And although it’s an inland town, why not try a good octopus a feira? As for something sweet, the local restaurants offer homemade desserts: filloas (crepes) with sugar or Miel de Galicia (Galician honey, with I.G.P.) and queso de O Cebreiro with quince or honey.
Tapas
Mesón Antón is perfect to having a few varied tapas.

Eating in Lugo
If you are looking for the best local dishes to order and the best establishments in this city you are in the right place. What do we recommend? Fish and seafood! It will be difficult to choose where to eat in Lugo because there are so many delicious restaurants. We offer a selection of restaurants so you can choose with certainty. Come with us to eat in Lugo!
What to eat in Lugo
Declared a World Heritage Site, Lugo is the oldest city in Galicia. Although it is located in the center of Spain, the fish and seafood form an important part of Lugo cuisine. Enjoy the excellent Queso de Tetilla, with D.O.P. products, from ham with turnip tops to the famous Galician octopus. Walk through the Mercado de Abastos and discover Lugo’s farming, hunting and fishing products. Try the delicious Galician veal or pork, both raised in local pastures and very popular in traditional Galician cuisine.

Don’t miss the opportunity to eat a classic Galician empanada, in its different varieties: zorza (pork chop), bacon, eel or filet, among others. Accompany this tremendous cuisine with a Vino Ribera Sacra, D.O. If you are visiting in mid-June, you might visit the Fiesta de Arde Locus and taste the handmade products in the street market. At the beginning of November, a tapas contest normally takes place in Lugo where they present awards for the most creative tapa, most traditional tapa and the best tapa paired with a local wine. For dessert, they offer the Tarta de Santiago, among other dishes. For after dinner, we recommend an herb liquor, coffee liquor or Galician brandy. Don’t forget to buy Galician honey and chestnuts, all products with I.G.P.
Tapas
If you opt for tapas you can order a small drink instead of a glass, which is smaller so you can visit more bars. In many local restaurants, the tapas are free and abundant. To eat tapas in Lugo we recommend Vinoteca Casa d’Auga, their tapas are innovative and the staff is very attentive.

Las Cinco Vigas is the perfect place for tapas: with never ending beer and skewers. Everything from the veal to the wine is delicious. You will leave satisfied.

In the bar Via Láctea you will find original tapas at a good price. They are normally very busy, so we suggest going with a lot of time.

In the restaurant Campos, that has won many awards throughout their history, you will also find good tapas, similar to A Nosa Terra

Vinoteca Casa d´auga

Las Cinco Vigas

A la carte
It will be difficult to choose where to eat in Lugo due to the quantity and quality of its establishments. In the restaurant España, that won the “Q” of tourist quality in 2014, they serve traditional cuisine. They have a seasonal menu with game meat and mushrooms.

If you want to eat Lugo’s specials, in the restaurant Paprica, which is also a bar, the chef Álvaro Villasante offers a creative cuisine that changes with seasonal products. Our travel community highlights the scallop maki as a great choice.

Restaurante España

Restaurante Paprika

The Día de San Antón is celebrated in Ábedes (3.5 km away) on January 17. During this celebration there is a pilgrimage, known as Festa de Chourizo. After mass and the procession, participants bring baskets with sausage, ham, etc. to a hill where they have a feast. At the beginning of August and during a long weekend the Feria del Vino Monterrei takes place, where in addition to its own wine, Vino D.O. Monterrei, you can sample others from the area like Vino D.O. Ribeiro or Vino D.O.

Eating in Ribadavia
Ribadavia is the capital of Ribeira wine, located on the banks of the Avia river, in the province of Ourense. Its old town is one of the most noble and well-preserved in Galicia. Its geographic position, close to the mountains and the coast, makes eating in Ribadavia a great choice, from fresh fish to quality meat. Are you interested?
What to eat in Ribadavia
You’ll always find fresh fish and seafood in addition to great meat in Rebadavia due to its proximity to both the mountains and the coast. The besugo (red seabream) and octopus, prepared in various different ways, are two of the main local dishes as well as typical Galician seafood like crabs and barnacles, amongst others. Pair these delicacies with Ribeiro Wine and, if you love good wine, you can go to one of the most important gastronomic events in the town where, in addition to Ribeiro and Ribeiro Tostado (a more aged wine), you can taste other local wines like Monterrei and Valdeorras, all with D.O.

At the end of October the locals celebrate in Barcia, 3 km away in the municipality of Melón, the Festa da Bica, a celebration of pan de maíz. 4 km away from Ribadavia, in Arnoia, the Fiesta del Pimiento takes place, during a long weekend in the beginning of August, in which they consume a large quantity of peppers—sweet, flat and dark green—in a variety of recipes (fried, in a tortilla, stuffed with veal or game meat), some of which are very unusual, like pepper-flavored ice cream. As for the dessert, rosquillas de yema de huevo, almendrados and melindres are all typical in Ribadavia. Visit the bakeries in the Jewish quarter where they sell Sephardic sweets (ma’amul, a cream with dates and rosewater; kamische-broit, with almonds or other nuts; donuts in the shape of the Star of David, etc…), an inheritance from Ribadavia’s past that can be discovered at the Festa da Istoria, where Jewish gastronomy fills the streets of Ribadavia. Also don’t forget to try the liquors produced in the area.
Tapas
The options for getting tapas in Ribadavia are ample, and here we provide our selection. At the Taberna Papuxa, found in the Jewish quarter, you serve yourself wine in ‘concas’, a kind of bowl typical to Galicia since the Galicians drink wine ‘in a cup’. It has a family-friendly, authentic atmosphere and homemade food.

At O Morto, there is a great atmosphere, especially in the mornings, and they serve rich tapas of which the empanadillas are highly recommendable.

Porta da Cerca has a great location next to the castle. It’s perfect for drinking some coffee on the terrace.

On the other hand, it you don’t feel like stopping to eat a meal in Ribadavia, at Tahona de Herminia in the town’s Jewish quarter you can get some Jewish sweets.

Porta da Cerca

Tahona Herminia

A la carte
Here we highlight some places to eat in Ribadavia and the surrounding area.

O Pucheiro serves homemade food and has three separate cod dishes. The restaurant A Quinza, on the road entering Ribadavia, gets good reviews and has an extensive menu. They also offer food to-go. These are the best options for eating in Ribadavia.

El Casal de Armán, 6 km away, has two dining rooms, which are beautiful spaces for celebrations.

11 km away is the restaurant at the hotel Monumento Monsterio de San Clodio, which occupies a beautiful cloister in the old monastery and offers carefully-crafted, traditional Galician cuisine.

A Quinza

Restaurante Monasterio San Clodio

Eating in Allariz
The village of Allariz, located in the province of Ourense, was declared an Artistic Historic Site in 1971. Allariz was the hometown of King Alfonso X the Wise and has a beautiful historic center. Eating in Allariz is an experience. If you want to try its famous Rexo cheese, come and eat in Allariz!
What to eat in Allariz
The former residence of Alfonso X the Wise, Allariz has an extensive cuisine. To figure out what to eat in Allariz walk through the streets where the legendary man wolf- a famous Spanish criminal- once roamed. Certainly, he also ordered delicious tapas like Galician octopus, tasty potatoes and Rexo cheese. Rexo cheese is the pride of this town and is made with unpasteurized sheep milk only produced in Galicia. It matures over 90 days, which provides its delicious flavor.

Another culinary pride in Allariz is its pastries. Try the macaroons, doughnuts, almonds, the famous melindres or the tarta real. Discover the secrets to their handmade creation at the Feria del Dulce that is celebrated toward the beginning of September.

At the Feria de Otoño, you will find, like in every Galician village, specialties that you should not leave without trying, like roasted chestnuts or honey.

The Fiesta de la Empanada that is celebrated in the month of August, in the Campo de Vilanova, has become a regular event since it began in 1971. If you attend the festival you will have the opportunity to sample a series of empanadas, ranging from the most traditional meat, like tuna or cod, to the most innovative, like conger eel, octopus, prawn, squid or sausage.

Don’t forget to sample the local wines which are perfect to accompany dinner in Allariz: Vino Ribeiro, Vino Monterrei and Vino Valdeorras, all with Certificate of Origin.
Tapas
If you love tapas bars, you will love eating in Allariz. Near the Church of Santiago, you can find the Vinoteca A Miralla, an avant-garde space where you can enjoy wine accompanied with delicious bread. In the same area, closer to Town Hall, is O Pepiño de Allariz where you can try one of their handcrafted beers and grab a bite of typical Galician food. The ox meat is especially noteworthy. Also near Town Hall is Fandiño Tapas where you can eat delicious tapas.

Another recommendation is Café Bar A Fabrica a local restaurant near the Arnoia River that has a good reputation. You can order something traditional like guacamole focaccia, mussels, chestnut bread with Arzúa cheese and homemade marmalade.

Fandinho Tapas

A Fábrica de Vilanova

A la carte
You will find many establishments with good food where you can eat in Allariz. A Fábrica de Vilanova opened in 2004 in a 17th century restored leather factory. They offer cuisine with seasonal products and have an excellent view of the river.

In Casa Fandiño, they serve traditional Galician cuisine and seasonal game meat. They also host book shows and concerts. It is famous for its handmade desserts.

Portovello, a beloved local restaurant in an old leather factory with a dining room above the Arnoia river, serves traditional food at a good price. The terrace is a hidden jewel that will make eating in Allariz an experience to remember.

Our final recommendation is Pallabarro, a hostel restaurant with an excellent menu. They offer savory fish, crab and grilled vegetables.

A Fábrica

Porto Vello

This geographic position makes its gastronomy very rich, so eating in Ourense will be a delight to all palates. This Galician city is worth the visit and offers all of the region’s typical products. If you decide to eat in Ourense, you will not be disappointed…
What to eat in Ourense
If you want to know what to eat in Ourense, you have to keep in mind that it’s the only of four Galician provinces that isn’t near the ocean so naturally, although present, fish and seafood aren’t prominent ingredients of the region with the exception of octopus, which is always a star dish in Galicia.

The Miño crosses the city and many restaurants offer fish from the river on their menus: salmon, trout, and lamprey (similar to eel). In terms of meats, in addition to in-season game, you can eat many of the dishes that come from pig slaughter such as androlla, leg of lamb a la orensana, and the famous lacón con grelos (with I.G.P.).

Ourense’s cuisine is based in quality produce like the Galician soup with grelos (greens), cachelos (boiled potatoes) and legumes like the Faba de Lourenzá with I.G.P. You’ll have the opportunity to try their typical cheeses: Queso de Tetilla, Queso de San Simón da Costa, and Queso Cebreiro, all products with D.O.P. that pair perfectly with the town’s famous bread, Pan de Cea (with I.G.P.)

In Ourense, the empanada is reinvented with a great variety of ingredients: eel, octopus, and bonito fish are the most highly demanded.

The most common wine in the province is D.O. Ribeiro, but they also make Monterrei, Ribera Sacra, and Valdeorras wines, all with D.O.

Lovers of dessert that come to eat in Ourense will be able to enjoy the cake known as Bica de Trives as well as the cañas (stuffed tube pastries). In Ourense the chestnuts, with D.O. Castaña de Galicia, are especially good, and are eaten either roasted or candied as marron glacé. Another typical product with I.G.P. is the Honey of Galicia.

It’s always good to finish a meal in Ourense with some Aguardiente de Hierbas (herb brandy) or Orujo de Galicia (pomace brandy), especially if the food has been plentiful.

In Galicia they generally celebrate many gastronomic festivals, and a few of the ones in the Ourense capitol are: Xantar (International Salon of Gastronomic Tourism), the fall and springtime Concursos de Pinchos, and Los Magostos, the day of the the patron saint, San Martín de Tours, in which they originally roasted chestnuts around the fire and currently celebrate in different parts of the city as well as surrounding mountainss.
Tapas
You’re in luck if you’re looking to eat tapas in Ourense. In Ourense, it’s customary to go out to “tomar vinos” (“drink wines”) in old town, the streets near the Cathedral, the Calle Lepanto…In this area we recommend:

The Bar Orellas is one of the most emblematic bars that has managed to stay true to its origins. There they serve a pincho that honors their name, pig’s ears with paprika (orellas means ‘ears’). You can also eat rich tapas at Portovello, another bar with a very good reputation.

For cheese lovers, Mesón O Queixo is a great option. They serve good sausage that you can eat on their pleasant terrace located in a small square.

Finally, to enjoy some rich croquettes and skewers at lunchtime in Ourense, try the Bar Pérez.

Mesón O Queixo

Bar Pérez

A la carte
There are so many options for eating in Ourense that it will be difficult to choose. You generally can't make a bad choice because the local gastronomy is so rich. However, if you’re indecisive, here we highlight a few restaurants in Ourense.

At Restaurante Nova, winner of a Michelin star in 2014, chefs Julio Sotomayor and Daniel Guzmán prepare avant-garde cuisine that they call “from the roots”, and offer the possibility of sitting at a “table-bar”, where the diner sits very close to the chefs as they cook.

At Adega San Cosme, also known as “Casa Sindo”, you’ll find traditional cuisine and in-season game dishes.

Another restaurant you can try in Ourense is the Porta Da Aira, where it’s said that you can find the best sirloin. There’s also Asador do Roa, where they have a firewood oven in which they roast Lechazo Churro de Roa and Cochinillo Segoviano with firewood from Oak and shoots. Highly recommendable.

El Pingallo has a pleasant terrace, space for celebrations and, being in the town’s wine area, is great for some good tapas in Ourense.

Res Nova

Asador de Roa

Eating in Tui
Formerly one of the capitols of the Kingdom of Galicia, today Tui forms part of one of the Eurocities of Spain with Portugal. Eating in Tui will be a pleasure. Seafood and fish have become prominent ingredients due to the town's proximity to the ocean. You can also enjoy many bars and restaurants when eating in Tui.
What to eat in Tui
The Miño river, which passes through Tui, marks the dividing line between Pontevedra and Portugal and is responsible for the star product of Vigo, meixón. But there are other delights that you can eat in Tui due to its closeness to the sea, which plays an important role in the local seafood and crabs, clams and scallops (among others), which are pervasive in the typical local dishes. In 2014, the Fiesta de la Angula was recovered by an initiative of the restaurant at the Parador de Tui. If your visit coincides with the celebration, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy the angulas at a reasonable price, prepared with mollo (a typical spice mixture of the area), oil, and a few thin slices of garlic, served in traditional clay pots.

You can also take advantage of the festivities and try other dishes like octopus a la gallega, caldeiro, and also some meat recipes. To further improve your meal, you can wash down the gastronomic offering with a wonderful regional wine, like Albariño with D.O. Rías Baixas. Lovers of sweets can’t miss trying the almond “pececitos” (“little fish”) made by the nuns, the roscón de yema, and typical Galician pastries like filloas (similar to crepes), almond cake, and the cañas.
Tapas
We should note that Tui has recently proliferated the amount of tapas bars and restaurants in the area. At the Tapería Remesal, you’ll be able to enjoy some good tapas in a quiet atmostphere. The mushroom scramble is an excellent choice.

At the Bar Monte Aloia, you’ll be able to eat traditional cuisine and order small portions to share. Situated in the Natural Park, the scenery is idyllic. Dogs are also welcome.

Tortilla carbonara de Remesal

Pulpo y empanada del Bar Monte Aloia

A la carte
Amongst the places to eat in Tui, we highlight the restaurant Cruceiro do Monte, where they offer abundant dishes in a family atmosphere.

Eating in O Carballiño
O Carballiño is a locality in the province of Ourense that’s famous for its gastronomic delights. With a pulpo tradition going back to the 17th century, eating in O Carballiño is an authentic pleasure. There’s a popular expression that goes: “For meat, bread and wine: O Carballiño”. So, what do you expect to eat in O Carballiño?
What to eat in O Carballiño
If you want to know what to eat in O Carballiño, we can tell you that the town is famous for its ancestral pulpera (octopus) tradition, which dates back to the 17th century. Since 2010, its inhabitants have held their unique event: the preparation of the largest octopus tapa in the world, which has the Guinness world record at 280 kilos. But if you can’t make it to that, you can also eat at O Carballiño’s Festa do Pulpo, which received the title of Festival of Touristic Interest in 1969. There you'll discover a great variety of recipes; be sure to at least try octopus in an empanada or in the style of a feira, a Galician recipe with with paprika and cachelos (boiled potatoes).

Currently the event takes place on the second Sunday in August in the Municipal Park of Carballiño. Pair your pulpo with other typical products like Pan de Cea, a bread with I.G.P., or some of the regional wines like Rebeiro, Monterrei, and Valdeorras, all of which have D.O.P. On the Sunday of Entroido (carnival), the locals celebrate the Festa da Cachucha, where the local establishments participate and serve the famous Galician stew as well as pork-derived. For dessert there are the famous cañas de Carballiño, a type of tube-shaped pastry filled with custard.
Tapas
Eating tapas in O Carballiño will definitely be a success. We recommend the following places:

La Tapería Comonacasa is perfect for going as a family since they have a space designated for children to play in. The food is high-quality at a good price.

Since octopus is a star dish in the cuisine of O Carballiño, you could try the Pulpería Fuchela, with highly recommendable grilled octopus and pulpo a feira. They also have Iberian pork and salmon a la piedra. Another place is the restaurant Aurora.

Finally, Pulpería Novo Flamingois a place to enjoy some good octopus and nice tapas.

Comonacasa

Aurora

A la carte
The restaurant O Muino da Lousas is located in an old mill, with part of its original structure preserved, next the the Arenteiro river, in a privileged location. It is one of the most beautiful sites in Carballino. They also have a great quality-price ratio.

La Cubana is a restaurant with a very good reputation amongst the locals in O Carballiño. We recommend their octopus.

If you want to enjoy good barbecued pork or veal, the restaurant Cornin is known for their version.

The restaurant O Lecer is worth it to go with family and be on the terrace while the children play in the garden. In addition to typical Galician cuisine, they are also known for their pizzas.

La Cubana

Cornin

Eating in Vigo
The post populated city in Galicia, you’ll find many places to eat in Vigo. A la carte, daily menu, tapas…There are so many options! But…what to eat in Vigo? It stands out for the quantity of different dishes and specialties that you can try, particularly the seafood and fish. The best are the gastronomic festivals that focus on one particular recipe.
What to eat in Vigo
With one of the most important ports on the Galician coast, Vigo is prominent in the gastronomy of Galicia. If you want to know what to eat in Vigo, we recommend a stroll through the Market, where you can discover the star products of local recipes. In terms of fish, sardines, monkfish, hake and turbot are all typical, and can be baked or grilled or prepared in classic caldeiradas (stews). For seafood: crabs, lobsters, mussels (with D.O.P.), or the very famous river barnacles, which you can order at the local establishments.

As for tapas, you’ll find empanada, octopus a feira (in the Galician style), and oysters. Don't forget the Queso de Tetilla, with D.O., acclaimed even outside of Galician borders.

Eating in Sabucedo
This town in the southeast of La Estrada is known for hosting the famous Rapa das Bestas. In this case the fish and seafood are not the center of attention: in Sabucedo, they only eat fish from the river. Eating in Sabucedo is complicated, and you’ll have to go towards other close localities.
What to eat in Sabucedo
In the municipality of La Estrada (the Tabeirós district), you can find this small village with very few inhabitants. If you want to know what to eat in Sabucedo or in the surrounding towns, keep in mind that fish and seafood, which are so representative of Galicia in general, aren’t the main ingredients in Sabucedo’s local cuisine. Being closed off from the ocean, fish from the river are an important part of the gastronomy, and the town even celebrates La Fiesta del Salmón (in La Estrada). This festival has been organized annually since its inception in July 1974, and was catalogued as a 2013 Festival of Touristic Interest of Galicia.

In Sabucedo, the celebration called A Rapa das Bestas takes place, in which they collect the semi-feral horses living freely in the mountains and cut their manes. This festival was declared to be of National Touristic Interest in 1963. The celebration takes place during a long weekend in the beginning of July in the Campo do Medio, a clearing where pulpeiros and other cooks set up stands where they roast and barbecue good Galician meat. It’s a good time to enjoy the Rías Baixas wines and other typical Galician products like honey, sausage, corn bread, pastries, etc…
Tapas
If you go to A Estrada (16 km), you’ll find the bar 20 Berzas, perfect for having tapas as a snack or for dinner. Our community of travelers recommends enjoying your tapas with a copa of wine or vermouth. They also have a rich tortilla de patatas.

20 Berzas

A la carte
There aren’t any local restaurants where you can eat in Sabucedo, but if you visit during the festival A Rapa das Bestas, you’ll have the opportunity to try typical Galician products at the stands installed in the Campo do Medio.

In Forcarei, 8 km away, you’ll find the restaurant Florida, specialized in grilled meats.

Eating in Pontevedra
The “old bridge” built during the time of the Romans on the Lérez river gives this Galician capitol its name. Eating in Pontevedra doesn’t just offer seafood, but also cheese and very sweet desserts. The gastronomy has never-ending dishes full of flavor. Additionally, the options for eating in Pontevedra are very extensive. Whether you’re in the mood for some tapas or eating from a more substantial menu, you are in the right place.
What to eat in Pontevedra
Capital of a Galician province, this city stands out for its great range of culinary possibilities. Its closeness to the ocean and the river allows Pontevedra to offer its visitors a broad variety of fish and seafood. Sea bass, salmon, xarda (mackerel), crab, mussels with D.O.P, cuttlefish (sepia) and scallops are all typical. Try the delicious fish stews, a recipe with a long tradition in Galicia.

But this town doesn’t just live off of the ocean, they also enjoy the authentic Galician veal with I.G.P and roasted goat. Also important are the star dishes of the region: empanadas in infinite varieties, the Queso de Tetilla and Pimiento del Herbón, both with D.O.P.; the octopus a feira (a la gallega), and the Lacón con grelos (sausage with greens, both with I.G.P.).

Wander the streets and enjoy the local custom of tapas, in which you can taste all of these specialties accompanied by a good wine from the region, like the Albariño, which has D.O. Rías Baixas. At the Festa da Filloa, which has been celebrated for twenty years during the Entroido (carnival) of Pontevedra, you can taste a great cariety of filloas, which are similar to crepes. Other typical sweets are the well-known Tarta de Santiago and Honey of Galicia, both products with I.G.P. Try the Licor de Hierbas and the Brandy of Galicia.
Tapas
If you prefer going for tapas, in the old town of Pontevedra you’ll find many bars that have a reputation of providing great tapas with drinks, and it’s not uncommon to see groups of friends in the street in front of crowded bars. For eating tapas and smaller portions, we suggest Ponte Tapas, where you’ll be able to eat delicacies like queso de tetilla with marmalade as well as octopus croquettes.

Amongst the many local places to get tapas, La Fuga de Blas will not disappoint you. Also located in the old town, it is the perfect place for having some pinchos and later a copa. We recommend the shrimp, prepared in distinct ways depending on the season.

PonteTapas

La Fuga de Blas

A la carte
Between the many places to eat in Pontevedra, we’ll highlight some of the more exclusive. At Eirado da Leña, in the old town, the dining room makes you feel like you’re in your own home; the chef, Iñake Bretal, prepares traditional Galician cuisine with touches of fusion. You have the possibility of trying the tasting menu.

At the restaurant Enxebre Casa do Barón (Parador de Pontevedra), they offer traditional and creative Galician cuisine. We recommend their prawn and greens cake.

In San Salvador de Poio (1.7 km away), you can find the restaurant Casa Solla, winner of a Michelin star, which offers a unique space—dining room and living room, with a view of the kitchen—in an old country house. The chef, Pepe Solla, is a cook by family inheritance who prepares simple food. You can choose between two menus, one short and one long. Our community of travelers says it is spectacular.

Eirado

Casa do Barón

Eating in Cambados
In the center of the Baixas Rivers is Cambados, the birthplace of Albariño wine. However, its cuisine is not far behind. You can enjoy its seafood and fish directly from the nearby rivers. You can choose between several restaurants and bars where you can try typical dishes from the area. Perfect for enjoying the Cambados cuisine.
What to eat in Cambados
Besides good wine you will find many delicacies to eat in Cambados, known as the capital of Albariño wine. Discover the Arousa river where exquisite mollusks, like clams and mussels, are made. However, the star products of this town are the zamburiñas and the scallops. Cambados has three ports and is the only town in Galicia where they permit harvesting scallops. They prepare the scallops in multiple ways, forming an extensive local cook book: with rice, angler fish, in stew or in an empanada at the Festa da Vieira.

The Cambados market, in the Tragove fishing port, is supplied with fish and seafood daily from sailors and fishermen in the area. Additionally, this region enjoys a microclimate that pampers the Cambados vegetable gardens where they grow Padrón peppers, green beans, tomatoes and lettuce. But the cuisine in the town would not be complete without its famous wines, under the Rías Baixas certificate of origin. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the Fiesta del Albariño, a wine event that has been celebrated for more than 50 years and has been declared a National Tourist Interest. It is currently celebrated for a week at the beginning of August.

In addition to the local specialties, eating in Cambados offers delicious traditional Galician dishes, like the empanada, the lacón con grelos and the Galician octopus. To put the finishing touch on your eating experience, try the wide range of liqueurs produced in the area, among them the Aguardiente de hierbas, the Licor de Hierbas, the classic Licor Café and the mythical Orujo gallego.
Tapas
Try delicious tapas in Cambados at A Casa da Leña where you will taste delicacies like its tempura crayfish and Padrón peppers. Located in a historical building with functional furniture, it offers modern Galician cuisine and has a selective wine cellar.

Pandemonium, named in Madrid Fusión as one of the 100 best restaurants serving Spanish cuisine, offers traditional cuisine with a creative touch and has a tapas bar. Their most popular dishes are the habas with octopus and the merluza with spinach.

Inside the Parador de Cambados you can find the Barlovento restaurant, perfect for fish and seafood.
