Eating in Teverga
The small council of Teverga has a very abrupt landscape, which counts with a Romanic and Prehistoric essence inside of an amazing nature. Along with this beautiful landscape you will be able to enjoy the Asturian gastronomy, with elaborated dishes made at the tevergano style.
What to eat in Teverga
If you are visiting the region, you will have to eat in Teverga the pote tevergano, typical of the council that has the same name as it, and elaborated with the classic Asturian fabes with cabbage and copango (blood sausage, bacon, shoulder ham). You can also enjoy some other combitanitons such as the fabes with wild boar or with hare. Try the pan de escanda (a rustic wheat produced in the hill zones) with a great nutritive value and very recommendable, specially for those who are allergic to wheat.

Great quesos de bota y fuente (cheese), called like that due to the lamb skin where the milk is fermented, of artisan elaboration and almost extinct. Try the delicious local recipes during the gastronomy journeys, such as the ones from Winer and Fall. During those, walk around the council and taste its creations that go from the picadillo (sausage) to the trips in the winter to the lamb stew in the Spring.

To complete this experience, don't miss the opportunity of trying the delicious cider of Asturias with D.O.P.. The tevergano menu will not be complete without the typic desserts from the council, such as the rice pudding or the almond colineta, a local pie that tastes like marzipan.
Tapas
If you go to the Taberna de Narciso you will find some great tapas. An excellent selection of drinks to enjoy with the tapeo and great recipes such as the mushrooms, the fried chorizo pincho and the torreznos. A tavern more than 170 years old that features a very nice service. They close on Mondays.

On the other hand, La Tasquina is a very charming winery. Taste their stuffed bollinos that will be served along with your drink, as you seat inside of the stone walls.

Taberna de Narciso

La Tasquina

A la carte
Between the numerous places you can enjoy in this town named a Model Village of Asturias in 2013, we recommend La Chabola (2,5km away), known for their quality, generous portions and great service. They have a daily menu and some good tapas. The cachopo and the wild boar rice will also surprise you.

On the other hand, the restaurant from the hotel Casa Manolo will allow you to order a menu that features the typical dishes you should eat in Tevergas: pote tevergano, fabada, grilled lamb... Homemade dishes, better than the ones your grandmother cooks. Delicious!

Casa Manolo

La Chabola

Eating in Pravia
Its extraordinary preromanic temple and the beautiful monumental set make Pravia one of the most manorial towns of Asturias. Among its stunning architecture we find a gastronomy based on classical recipes. Quality products are the base for those recipes and together they creat excellent dishes. This is why eating in Pravia will be a pleassure for the visitor.
What to eat in Pravia
Pravia is located between Nalón and Narcea. It is the region's capital and is known as the "Huerta de Asturias". Its rich gastronomy is varied and delicious and it is composed by both sea and land products. One of the protagonists is the salmon and the Jornadas Gastronómicas del Salmón are a great chance to try it in all the possible ways: paté. caldereta, grilled, with sidra, or papillote (cooked in its own juice)

Walk by its streets and enjoy the local products shown in the Feria de la Faba, la Miel y el Kiwi. During this event you can try the dry fabes with which the classic local dish and the kiwi icecream are elaborated. This tradition is 30 year old. You can accompaign this menu with some cheese Afuega´l Pitu and with Sidra de Asturias. If you get the chance to be there during the carnival Antroxu don't forget to try the sweet bollinas (with sugar and nuts) typical from that feast days.
Tapas
If you want to eat something fast in Pravia such as some tapas to share, we suggest to go to Bar Iglesias. This place is amazing and if you are hungry ordering some dishes from the menu to share is a great idea.

Another great option is going to Casa Vila where it is really easy to share some raciones of typical products from the area. Its albóndigas and cachopinos are delicious!!

Bar Iglesias

Casa Vila

A la Carte
The restaurant Brisas Pravianas is manages by the granddaughter of the founder and it is more than 100 years old. It has a nice picnic lunch as in the old times and it is a reference in Pravia. Their calamari croquetas, tunna in sauce and mushrooms scrambled eggs are delicious! Of course its sidra and desserts must be tried before leaving!

A cozy restaurant with excellent servers: Mil Sabores. It offers quality food and always has a section of Chef's Recommendations. Our own sugerence is to try the alubias con marisco (beans with seafood)

The fame of Sala del Buen Yantar is well deserved. They only make homemade dishes and they offer a degustation menu that is delightfull! Try the shrimps salad and the avocado icecream.

Las Brisas Pravianas

Mil Sabores

And, as you may know, with good views, food becomes even better. In addition to the typical recipes from Asturias, they have their own local dishes. Eating in Ribadesella will be easy as there are numerous restaurants and bars!
What to eat in Ribadesella
Famous for its Descenso del Sella in summer, this locality offers a great deal of delicious recipes. You'll find a wide variety of sea and land products to eat in Ribadesella. Its cuisine stands out due to its fabes with clams, lobster, seafood and even wild pig. But, undoubtly, the main protagonist is the pantrucu. This peculiar dish is prepared after the matanza and it is only made of pig. You can eat it with cheese, apple jam or with sugar.

Walk its streets following the Sidra route and learn how to serve it in the local taberns (Chigres). Try its excellent fish and end up in Collera, a small town nearby Ribadesella where to taste the Sidra Aguardiente, a very strong liquor that is prepared in their own centenary cellar and which quality has been recognised by the EU.
Tapas
In the Sidrería El Tarteru you will find tapas and raciones to eat. Croquetas made with octopus, Chorizo with Sidra and the Calamari are always a great option.

In the bar-restaurant La Terraza we suggest to enjoy the fresh air with having some drinks and a spanish omelette. The cheese board and the slithers are great!

La Terraza

El Tarteru

A la Carte
There are hundreds of restaurants perfect for eating in Ribadesella but we want to talk to you about some of our favorites. Their specialty is grilled fish.

Other good options are El Rompeolas, El Volante and El restaurante-sidrería Casa Gaspar which are really apreciated by the locals.

Restaurante Güeyu-Mar

El Volante

Eating in Oviedo
The Asturian capital is an important gastronomic and cultural center, full of monuments. Here we can find a great variety in the gastronomy, which is a combination of traditional cuisine with innovative touches. Quality products, with D.O.P and very tasty. Also, there are many restaurats and bars, reason why you will be able to choose the ones that attract you the most. Tapas or a la carte, eating in Oviedo is an unforgettable experience!
What to eat in Oviedo
Oviedo, the capital of Asturias, combines tradition and modernity in all aspects, and gastronomy couldn't be different. You will find many delicious things to eat in Oviedo, where all of the specialties of the region are found. Take a walk around the Fontán Market and discover its meat, fish and earth products. Don't loose the opportunity to enjoy the gastronomic journeys, such as La Ascención, forty days after Easter, when the inhabitants of Oviedo eat a menu that includes a vegetable stew. As a main dish, the gobernada meat that the chefs cook in front of the visitants.

The Day of the Desarme, in October, has as a main tradition to eat a simple menu Isabelino style with chickpea, spinach and tripes, and enjoy a siesta after. Another celebration of this region if the Desfile de América, in September.

But this cosmopolitan town doesn't forget its origin, reason why the traditional fabes with chorizo, blood sasage and ham, and their famous hake a la sidra (cider) are always present. Regarding the desserts, try their cheese: the Casín with D.O.P is produced in the region as it's great. Some traditional sweets are the carbayones (small puff pastries made of almond, egg, sugar and some sherry drops), which are offered in the ancient bakeries of the town.
Tapas
The centric Gascona street, a tapas region, has become the Cider Bulevard. Here you will find many places to try natural cider, such as La Pumarada and Tierra Astur - which also has an autoservice system. In Tierra Astur, we recommend you to try the mushrooms with cabrales cheese.

If you are looking for a charming place, the restaurant Casa Amparo offers the perfect tapas to share with your couple. Even though the prices are kind of high, it is worth it to pay a little bit more here. The bocartes with Iberic ham will be a good starter option. The cidery La Manzana has a menu that is great to taste the specialties of the region.

Another option to eat gourmet tapas is the Taberna del Zurdo. A less formal tapeo where you could try the snails filled with lujo. High prices, but the innovative recipes are worth it.

La Taberna del Zurdo

Casa Amparo

A la carte
Between the many places where you could eat in Oviedo, we are going to mention some. The Asturian chef Nacho Manzano, who owns two Michelin stars, oppened in Oviedo the Restaurante-casa de Comidas Gloria, in the Cervantes street. Interesting, traditional cuisine with a vanguard touch. Perfect to have lunch or dinner, and their ham croquetas are one of our favorite dishes. The rice is the specialty of the restaurant.

If you want to try the cachopo (two calf steaks stuffed with ham and cheese) at a small price we suggest the restaurant Monte Naranco, at the Menéndez Pelayo street, where you will also find portions. Acceptable results, but not estraordinary.

If you are looking for a daily menu, go to the Tabernilla de Oviedo. They have more elaborated dishes that scape from tradition. You also have a lot of options in their menu, and their portions are generous without being too bid. Ideal to have a vermouth, wine or beer. If you like to try new things, they have Australian (not Asturian!) dishes. They also serve a delicious calamari in their ink stew.

Restaurante Casa de Comidas Gloria

Restaurante Monte Naranco

Eating in Navia
The market, industry and touristic activity have turned Navia into an important village. Here you will be able to enjoy the traditional Asturian gastronomy without having to renounce to the local dishes. If you are in Navia, you should definitely try their cider! You can also choose your favorite option between their many restaurants and bars. Let's go eat in Navia!
What to eat in Navia
Due to its location, close to Galicia, there are some places in Asturias where a dialect known as the eonaviego is spoken. This is the case of Navia, the capital of its own council, where the culture from Galicia is also felt in the kitchen. The gastronomy here is very rich and there's a lot to eat in Navia, but the fish is always the protagonist. Take a walk around the harbor and watch the entry of the boats, maybe you are even able to watch the interesting auction that happens in the fish market. The clam a la marinera and the seafood cocktail are some of the classic dishes of this village. Taste all of this maritime tradition in the Jornadas Gastronómicas del Bonito or the Sardine Festival.

Don't leave without trying the famous rapones, empanadas made of bacon and corn. As a good Asturian town, in Navas you will be able to have a good fabada, where the main ingedient are the Fabas Asturianas with I.G.P. that are produced in the region. And to complete this experience, what could be better than going to the Fiesta de la Sida (Cider Party) and lear from the professional cupbearers as you taste the great Cider of Asturias with D.O.P.. To make your day sweeter, order a venera (a combination of egg, sugar and almond), the most simbolic dessert of this place, and enjoy it with the classic cottage cheese with honey.

Tapas
Let's go eat some tapas! If you like to refresh yourself with a drink at the same time you eat tapas, we suggest the Bar La Isla. Homemade food, delicious tortilla and big bocadillos. The Sidrería La Magaya offers great cider and quality tapas. The barnacles are the perfect portion to share with friends and family, and the pixín (anglerfish) has a great taste. The prices are kind of high.

Sidrería La Magaya

Bar La Isla

A la carte
You will find many options of places to eat in Navia. If you want to taste an Asturian cuisine that is respectful with its tradition at the same time it adds innovative touches you could go to the restaurant from the Hotel Blanco or the one from the Hotel Regueiro, in Tox. From the first one we recommend the crab cream and from the second their wonderful croquetas (chosen as the best croquetas in the world in 2015).

Restaurante Hotel Blanco

Restaurante Hotel Regueiro

Eating in Gijon
Gijon, the maritime capital of Asturias, has a great environment throughout the whole year. Part of the Green Coast, this city deserves a one weekend visit. The beaches, streets, tapas bars and restaurants will amaze you. Eating in Gijon will be the perfect ending for a great weekend. The food could be described in three words: generous, tasty and cheap.
Eating in Gijon
As well as other cities from Asturias, Gijon is the combination of traditional recipes with new cuisine, created by great chefs. Some of the best dishes to have in Gijon are the fabada asturiana with copango (chorizo, blood sausage and shoulder ham), the fabes with D.O.P with clam and the pote asturiano. Also, the fish and seafood soups, the meloso rice with lobster or a good vegetable stew are also great options.

Another typical dish if the chopa a la sidra (cooked with cider) and pulpu con patatines (octopues with potatos), which is as good as the octopus a la feria that their neighbours from Galicia prepare in a lot of villages, such as O'Carballino.

Usually eaten in the summer, the fried calamares de potera (squid) or in its ink, and the cuttlefish afogaos (drowned, as they keep the cover while they are beeing cooked). Maybe you are lucky enough to find potato and fish stews, with fish such as the tiñosu (red scorpionfish) and the golondru. The pixín (anglerfish), hake and cod fried in egg batter. Between the seafood, the llámpares (limpet) and erizos (sea urchin) have always been a part of the Asturian cuisine, and they are even canned sometimes.

The Ruta de la Sidra (Route of the cider) will allow you to get to know the taverns where you can try the Asturian Cider with D.O.P., produced in the region. If you decide to follow the routes of the Gijón Goloso initiative. you will also get to know the sweets of the Spanish city with more bakeries per inhabitant.

Tapas
The Asturian city maintains the spirit of tapas. Eating in Gijon will guarantee you a great quality at a good price. There are many places to go eat tapas at the "vermouth time". We recommend some of them:

Pozcas de sal is a tavern relatively recent, but it has been able to place itself as one of the best ones in the city. They define their cuisine as "attractive, tasty, happu, different and economic dishes. Perfecto to enjoy with a beer or a glass of wine".

Another option if Las tapas y la sartenuca. It is not formal place, but their food is tasty and cheap. You can choose the tapa you like the most at their counter, but we recommend you to try the sartenuca de huevos rotos (cracked eggs) and the picadillo (sausage).

Taberna Pizas de Sal

Bar Las Tapas y la Sartenuca

A la carte
Due to its location, as it is a coastal city, and to its historic relevance as an industrial and mining harbour, Gijon has always been full of a great number of restaurants where people are able to find the traditional dishes of the Asturian gastronomy, with a broad offer of fish and seafood.

We recommend the Restaurante Auga, located in the sportive harbour and specialized in fish and seafood. It offers a traditional but modern cuisine.

The Restaurante Ciudadela, close to San Lorenzo beach, will enable you to find an economic menu with some great prices.

The chef Jairo López opened the restaurant Ardilla Somió the Summer of 2014. This is a good place to eat tapas at any time of the day.

The restaurant La Tasca de Cabrales is another place where you can find a great variety of tapas and wines. Only 8km away from Gijon there is Casa Gerardo. This place is more than 120 years old and now it has becomed one of the trending restaurants thanks to the chefs Pedro and Marcos Moran.

Restaurante Ardilla Somió

Restaurante Ciudadela

Restaurante Auga

Also, the views from the top of the hills are simply incredible. Eating in Cudillero will allow you to taste the typical gastronomy from Asturias. Don't you want to know what the curadillo is?
What to eat in Cudillero
The old Villa de Saín, Cuideiru in Asturian and Cudillero in Spanish, is a great stop where you will be able to taste a huge variety of dishes, from the traditional fabada, made with the Fabada Asturiana with I.G.P., to the fish and seafood from the Cantabrian ocean, served with the delicious cider from Asturias with D.O.P., produced in this region.

The most pixueto (Asturian dialect from bable) dish to eat in Cudillero is the curadillo, that was traditionally eaten during the vigil of the sailors when they couldn’t leave to fish. Gatas, dogfish, or any other fish, are previously put to get some air and exposed to the sun, and can be eaten at the Festival del Curadillo every year. If you are also a sea lover, you could try to go to the Jornadas de la Merluza del Picho, annually celebrated thanks to the participation of many restaurants of the region.

The pixín (monkfish), the red sea bream a la espada or the Abaroque sardines are also specialties of the village. You could also try the delicious Afuega’l Pitu cheese, also typical of this region, with D.O.P..

To make your day more sweet, why not try the rice pudding, some bullinas (sweet empanadillas), some frixuelos, turrón de tabique and the pixuetinos.

Tapas
If you want to eat tapas in Cudillero, we recommend the following places:

You can start with the Taberna del Puerto, a beautiful place good to eat octopus and drink cider at.

Eating in Covadonga
The beautiful village of Covadonga raises above the National Park from the Picos de Europa. This icon of the Reconquest of Spain will bring you many stories and tales from the times of Don Pelayo. And what about its gastronomy? It is delicious. Eating in Covadonga will make you fall in love, even more, with this city.
What to eat in Covadonga
In the place where the king Don Pelayo began the Reconquest, Covadonga, one of the most important touristic spots of the Principado de Asturias is found. If you travel during September, you will be able to enjoy the most important traditional celebration of the village, the Fiesta de la Santina. The typical dishes you should eat in Covadonga are made with products of great quality, that come from the seas and the eart. Fish such as the salmon, the hake, the trout and the monkfish are the protagonists in the tables from Asturias (they all have I.G.P.). The cabritu (kid) and another meats such as the deer, the wild boar and the roe deer are also very popular. These are just some of the options you can try along with the wines of the region.

Cheese is also very important in the tradition from Asturias. Enjoy the flavor of their cider and visit the taberns of this village located in the National Park of the Picos de Europa. But don't forget to leave some space for the dessert, as sweets are a mandatory product from this place. Try the casadielles: empanadas stuffed with walnuts and almonds and covered with a bit of anise.

Tapas
There is not a place to only eat tapas in Covadonga, but we recommend you to stop at the Panera del Molino, where you will find delicious bocadillos (sandwiches) to renew your strenghts and continue with the visit.

La Panera del Molino

A la carte
You will find many restaurants where you can eat in Covadonga.
